So many why's and so little sense

He's 29. He has a first class honours degree. He has been headhunted as a webdesigner. He is a young man. He has exactly the same hopes, and dreams as any other 29 year old.

So why, why, why does this 29 year old man have to live in a place of someone else's choosing? Be given a bath at the time and day of someone else's choosing? Be forced into unemployment through the rules regulating the incredibly high cost of his already unsuitable living environment?

The short answer to me seems as usual fairly simple, and is the same answer time and time again. These rules have been designed by people completely and utterly ignorant of the realities of the workings of either the benefits or care system. People who with woefully few exceptions still blithely assume they know best. Civil servants, politicians, doctors, nurses, and always, always, always the worst offenders of all the social workers. Able bodied professionals who make decisions over other lives without even the most basic of understanding of how it is to live such a life.

I like your blog because you make me think about things that would never occur to me otherwise. There are so many things wrong with the System! They say it is designed to give disadvantaged people the ability to live normal lives. They say it gives unemployed people the incentive to better themselves. But in truth it is so restrictive in its remit that it actually forces people to remain isolated and unemployed.

Thanks HMC, 'the system' is a big reason to do with my starting this blog. I am constantly amazed and horrified by the problems I face on a daily basis caused purely by the rules and regulations created by 'the system' and that these problems are hidden from the public who are manipulated into believing that their taxes go towards paying to providing to the genuinely vulnerable and that there is a huge fraud problem in sickness/disability benefits. In reality nothing could be further from the truth and that's something I hope to show on here in a way that's interesting (hopefully!) I'll fall off my soapbox at this point! BG x
